PBS is looking for a part-time IBM AS400 system administrator to assist with managing a multi-tenant environment for Managed Services. The candidate will be responsible for the following types of activities:
System availability and performance - assist with managing multiple LPARs and physical IBM Power servers
User access - add/delete users, change roles, password reset, etc.
Print queues - administer printer queues and help resolve printing issues
Operating system support - apply PTF updates and OS version upgrades as required
Host Management Console / Power VM - build new LPARs, define SYSPLANs, manage system resources
Backup and Recovery (BRMS) - manage daily backup operations to Virtual Tape (Data domain) and physical tape
The ability to work within a minimally supervised environment is appreciated. You will work with one of our Senior Engineers and the Director of Managed Services to deliver operational environments for multiple Companies for both PRODUCTION and DR environments. Your responsibilities will be clearly defined and the schedule for work may vary, ie, more hours required when bringing on a new Customer. You will report your time and activities via Toogit time reporting process. Experience with IBM PowerHA, Mimix, iTerra, Q-EDD would be a plus but not required. Experience with IBM Power VM Enterprise Edition and live partition mobility would be a plus. Storage will be SAN based for this shared environment. Experience with VIOS will be a plus.
PBS will require 24hr coverage, so there will be multiple system administrators that will be working on these same systems. The schedule that the Candidate will work is negotiable at this point. This position will need to be filled and the Candidate will be needed to begin work within 30 days.
