Extracting and downloading tiled raster maps from web mapping services (online maps)
Requirements:
- Analysis of the mapping website requests to determine mapping server URL and tile URL scheme,
- Downloading tiles (or downloading the whole map if can be done at once) for each layer available on the respective mapping website for the required geographical area (local areas in the UK),
- Georeferencing (and possibly merging) downloaded PNG/JPG files into georeferenced PNG, TIFF or other GIS-suitable formats (i.e. shape files / vector data).
Note:
If there are vector data available instead/apart of the raster ones, these should be downloaded instead/as well.
For the avoidance of doubt ownership of the output data and script will remain the property of Eisenhower Data Analysis Ltd.
Milestone 1: 5 x hours (maximum)
Initial analysis to determine approach to web scraping and output files. Develop forecast delivery plan for completing milestone 2 and milestone 3.
Milestone 2: Hours (TBC as part of milestone 1 deliverable)
Produce and test script and provide a sample output file(s) for a single URL.
Milestone 3: Hours (TBC as part of milestone 2 deliverable)
Run script for all URL in scope and provide output file(s) for each URL.
