I want to optimise my host for server speed and delivery. I'm currently using Digital Ocean and Cloudflare. I will share some screenshot of website with shortlisted candidates that shows possible optimisations.
Cloudflare is also preventing me from using the native custom css within Thesis theme. Here's a reply I got from the Theme developer:
There is ZERO reason to use CloudFlare while working on a site. (There are good reasons why you would want to use it AFTER your site is stable and not under active development.)
None of your CF files matter, you can blow them all into outer space for now.
When you're finished making changes to your site, THAT is the time to apply the CF layer, and CF will give you everything you need to do this.
As I've said many times now:
CloudFlare LOCKS the assets of your site\u2014HTML, CSS, JS, so they can be served quickly for return visitors.
When you are working on your site, you are actively changing these assets. It makes no sense to try and change something that's locked, THIS is why you don't add CloudFlare until you are done.
CF also annoys me because they do not give you a settings page inside WordPress. You've got to manage everything from the CF admin on their site, and some of their commands are cryptic and don't always achieve what you want.
Some people need 3-4 attempts just to figure out what to turn off to get CF to release the CSS file so it can be changed.
Bottom line: You don't need the speed boost from CF while you're actively making changes to your site (hell, it doesn't make any sense!).
Make whatever changes you need to make, and only THEN should you activate CF.
I've found a work around solution using a css plugin. But Cloudflare have cached the theme custom css and thus I'm having to rewrite css to cancel out previously written css. Not ideal. So need to fix this, which may require resetting the Cloudflare setup for this domain.
