React and Meteor Front-end Developer

Looking for an experienced React and Meteor front-end developer to work on our recently completed beta version web application for a scientific modeling application that forecasts air quality (called "Shair"). You will work closely with a team of scientists who are developing the scientific model as well as team members who are focused on sales, marketing and design.

We would like you to:
1. Continue to develop our beta version Meteor/React/Sass web app
2. Develop the next version of our web app with many additional features
3. Build iOS and Android applications using Apache Cordova in Meteor
4. Have experience releasing iOS and Android apps
5. Work closely with our air quality modelers to incorporate and display new data in the application
6. Improve current user authentication and role-based access control
7. Create a responsive UI that works and looks good on all devices
8. Manage releases and deployment of the web app, iOS, and Android app

What makes you stand out:
1. Experience Node.js developer
2. You can write tests for your code
3. Experience with web mapping tech (e.g. Mapbox, Leaflet, HTML5 Canvas)
4. Experience with web data visualization tools
5. Experience with Meteor.js and React
6. Experience developing and deploying iOS/Android apps
7. Experience with MongoDB
8. Experience working as contributor in a git environment (pull/merge requests, code review, etc)
9. Experience with CI/CD and test automation (optional)
10. Good communication skills
11. Ability to work alongside our team in an agile/iterative way
12. Ability to work on a US/Pacific timezone

Requirements:
1. Working hours must overlap 70% with Pacific time working hours
2. Submitting code for review in manageable portions on a per user story or task basis
3. Planning/managing epics/tasks/sprints based on Shair team requests
a. Shair team describes the feature and you turn that into tasks/subtasks
b. Prepare bi-weekly demos for the whole team
c. Participate in daily standups (15 minutes in the morning)
d. Populate backlog and groom tasks for bi-weekly sprints based on input from the team
4. You include the phrase "air quality fun" in your introductory email

You will be asked to answer the following questions when submitting a proposal:
1. Have you worked with vector map tiles and Mapbox?
2. Have you used interactive maps in a web application or app before and how?
3. What past project or job have you had that is most like this one and why?
4. Why do you think you are a good fit for this particular project?

20-40 hours/week
1-month trial with an evaluation to continue an ongoing contract for another 3-6 months

Performance will be evaluated by the following outcomes/metrics:
- Ability to accurately plan and execute development tasks in alignment with sprint goals
- Writing tests when appropriate
- Lighthouse audit scores
- Code quality and functionality
