Here at elsten software, makers of bliss and OneMusicAPI. We're looking for a freelancer skilled in React, Javascript, JSON REST APIs to complete a one-off embeddable Web widget project.
We're here to make working with music libraries easier, and this project seeks to create a Web-based embeddable widget that can be used on any Web page to assess music libraries so they are correct, complete and consistent.
We have a backend which can perform the analysis; what we need is a front-end embeddable widget, built with React, which we can embed on web pages. The widget will accept user's music files, send details about the files to our servers, and then display the results. Our backend is built as an async REST API using JSON to structure input and output data.
You'll be working directly with the company founder and backend architect/programmer, so no chains of command or endless meetings... You will be paid on an hourly rate, rather than fixed price, as that is the fairest way and will protect you from any scope creep. More detailed requirements will be discussed with the successful applicant after they are hired.
We mandate a one click build. Unit testing is important to us to maintain momentum without breaking things, so both the build and tests will be part of the deliverables in this project.
The deliverables from this job will be:
- A working widget than can be incorporated onto a web page hosted on any domain.
- Instructions for how to run the one-click build.
- Instructions for how to run the tests.
- Instructions for how to embed the widget.
The skills you will need are:
- A love of music
- Experience of React, Javascript, calling REST/JSON APIs.
- Web frontend build and test environments.
- Experience of, or a willingness to learn of, the unique technical challenges posed by embeddable widgets.
- Attention to detail: please prefix your cover letter with 'I Love React'.
The recruitment process is as follows:
1) After I have posted this job, I will review new applicants and send messages to ask questions.
2) A week or so after posting I will short list promising applications for an initial interview to discuss goals and check our values align.
3) From that I will choose 3 or 4 applications to perform an interview test. You will be paid for the interview test, at the rate you apply to the job. The interview test will be no more than four hours.
4) I will choose the successful applicant.
We are looking forward to reviewing your application.
