ABOUT ME

O’Brian Baker holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Northern Caribbean University. He has over 19 years of professional musical experience as a music educator, performer, and wind instrument ensemble arranger.

O’Brian began his teaching career by creating recorder instrumental music programs for Maldon High School, Spaulding and Winston Jones High School year 7 and 8 students that could not afford to purchase wind instruments. He then went on to serve as a music teacher in the Turks and Caicos Islands for several schools including Enid Capron Primary, Osetta Jolly Primary, and Maranatha High school, where he taught instrumental music, pop bands, orchestra, and elementary classroom music.

Mr. Baker also served as faculty for Savannah, George Town and Bodden Town Primary Schools in the Cayman Islands where he taught Band, instrumental Lessons, Music Theory classes, and have prepared students for the annual National Children’s Festival of the Arts competition (NCFA) where he had solo items, choirs, and bands winning gold, silver and bronze award. In 2014, the Savannah Primary School received the second place trophy for the Battle of the Bands award.

As an educator and a performer, Mr. Baker has been a trombone player for the Northern Caribbean University Orchestra, the Sam Sharpe Teachers College Marching Band and the Jamaica National Orchestra. He also played the steel pan 6 bass and was one of the piano accompanist for NCU Chamber choir’s tour to the United States.

O’Brian Baker now concentrates his teaching activities as a private lesson instrumental teacher for piano, flute, trumpet, saxophones, trombone, guitar and clarinet. He hopes to use music as a tool to instill discipline, enhance academic achievements and help young people develop a talent for life to alleviate the problem of unemployment.
