ABOUT ME

An Indian native, I am a qualified freelance proofreader and copyeditor who specialises in working with corporate and business texts, and those written by non-native English speakers.

. I have extensive experience and first-hand knowledge of the business world, particularly regarding technological and strategic functions.

Furthermore, I have significant experience working with texts of all manners and purposes, from marketing copy to top-level proposals and reports, and understand the different styles and grades of language needed for different situations and audiences.

In my freelance capacity I have worked with many different types of text, but specialise in working with businesses – proofreading and editing their corporate materials and documents, marketing copy, web copy, articles, blogs, etc., and also with non-native English speakers – whether businesses or individuals.

Depending on the level of work required, my work covers the following –

- spelling and grammatical errors
- incorrect word usage and idiomatic expressions
- sense checking and clarity
- consistency in style, tone, formatting, word usage and spelling (i.e. US vs UK English)
- accuracy of references within text (i.e. references to illustrations, tables, indexes, etc)
- re-writing – correcting or enhancing obscure, misleading or ambiguous sentences, contradictions, repetitions, etc, whilst always ensuring the author’s voice and style remains intact
I work with preferred style guides when provided, or can suggest and/or create one if not. I can return changes in the format required, but typically work with Word track-changes or PDF mark-up tools.
