ABOUT ME

Growing up in a middle class family, I may say that sometimes we struggle financially. My father is just a farmer of our owned piece of land, planting crops that will sustain our daily needs. My mother is a plain housewife and an active church leader. We don’t have a luxurious living; we are contented on what we have as long as we fed our stomach three times a day. We are four in our humble abode in Sampagar, Damulog, Bukidnon. I am the eldest child in the family; my name is Vhea Ghane Estrada Goso, 18 years old and Grade 12 student of Barayong National High School taking up Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) strand. As I described myself, I can say that I am an opportunity seeker and a goal-driven woman. The spotlight that I am into in the field of academe made me become a dreamer; aiming of something precious that is inimitable with wealth. Humbly speaking, since elementary until senior high I never missed out any of the activities and contests- from school based to national. I am an active member of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines and a certified Chief Girl Scout Medallist. I am also a campus journalist for seven years now and the Editor-in-Chief of our school publication for three years in a row. I joined the Regional Schools Press Conference for four times, however I didn’t get the chance to be in the national arena. I’ve been into different writing fields—Editorial writing, Feature writing and Science and Technology writing. I am also a debater in our school and joined different interschool debate competitions. I was a consistent best discussant in Rapport Discussion for two years and won the regional championship. However, in the midst of my victories, I also have failures. But it is not just a let-down; rather it is something worth that we acquired when we lose—lessons. Chinese Philosopher Lao Tzu once said “Knowing others is intelligence, knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength while mastering yourself is true power”.
